It’s been an eventful last few weeks in the Lancashire Mens Interleague, Darwen entertained local rivals at the end of March and after a poor start and being 1-6 down came back to draw 9-9 at the end.

Preston failed to fulfil their fixture with Leyland on 25.03.12 & have since dropped out due to lack of interest. Burnley have not sent in their match card v Chorley from 01.04.2012, fines + point deductions have been applied.

With Preston dropping out those who have already played them the appearance stats applies, for those who haven’t the overall games have been taken off & is reflected in the app stats spreadsheet.

The Ladies team continue to develop well but coming up against the super team of Lancashire Hotpots in Preston they hit a brick wall, with the Hotpots taking the game 13-1. Darwen Ladies Champion Kelly Whitworth being the only winner.

Meanwhile Kelly, along with fellow Darwen and Alex B player Cath Slater, started their campaign in the Ladies International Pool Tour. Kelly made the last 32 in Event 1 of the tour and both are hoping to improve in Event 2 at Club 147, Leicester on Sun 6th / Mon 7th May. Current provisional rankings show Kelly ranked 39, with Cath ranked number 40.

Following our recent sponsorship deal with local bookmakers, Bet 88,  the sponsors have produced a whole new set of results cards, free of charge, for use on all monday night games.

The cards will be delivered to all venues over the coming week, but if there is an urgent need for results cards then you can collect some from the Entwistle Hotel or the Punch Hotel from Saturday night.

Can we ask that all previously distributed cards are destroyed and that you use the new cards going forward as this is a major part of the sponsorship agreement.

Due to being unable to field a team, the committee have been informed that White Lion B are withdrawing from the League effective immediately.

As the players have not played in any matches, all players are eligible to play for other teams.

Due to a number of team changes on Monday evening, the league fixtures have been re-compiled. This has enabled us to reduce the number of byes in each league. Please ensure you read the fixture sheet and make yourself aware of the new fixtures from Monday 12th March.

All matches that was played on Monday will still count.

Darwen Mens Interleague team have continued their good start to the season with another good win against Burnley on 12th Feb.

Double wins for Paul Otley, Kane Suddick and Keith Holden and also wins for Jamie Ridsdale, Jimmy Cummins, Bernard Goulding, Pete Jennings and Ian Harle lead to an 11-7 win.

The following week,  a reduced team, due to a number of players being at Lancashire trials, travlled to Wigan A where they narrowly lost 10-8 against one of the top sides in the county.

Wins for Paul Otley, Graham Melia and Ian Harle in the first half meant we where trailing 6-3 at half way, but wins for Tez Fielding, Paul Otley, Ian Harle, Pete Jennings and Gaz Costello meant 5-4 in the second half and a respectable result.

Opening fixtures in the A League have last years winners Victoria take on last years B League winners Craven. Last years runners up Borough take on the Crown. The other fixture in the A league is Punch A+E take on Punch C, with Punch B and White Lion B  having a bye.

In The B League, Uncle Jacks travel to Punch D, Engineers entertain Catholic Club, Milstone make the short walk to White Lion, Alexandra entertain Last Orders while Entwistle have a free night.

Darwen mens came back from 4-1 down to win 12-6 at Bury.

A good start for the men with 2 wins for Ian Harle, Jimmy Cummins, Pete Jennings and Jamie Ridsdale. Debut wins for Haydn Lond and Kane Suddick as well.

Ladies unfortunately lost 10-4 against Moody Cues with wins for Maxine Goulding, Kelly Whitworth, Julie Buck and debutant Emma Brown.
