Presentation Night for Season 2010

Darwen Pool Association are please to announce that the 2010 Season Presentation Night will take place at Marigolds, The Green, Darwen on Monday 28th March 2011 commencing at 8pm

Entertainment for the night is comedian “Bobby Bender”.

Manchester’s top comedian ‘Bad’ Bobby has appeared in the BBC sitcom ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, long running soap ‘Coronation Street’ and on ‘Adult’s Only’ late night entertainment channel ‘Men and Motors’. Bobby also appeared in the Ken Loach film “Looking for Eric”

‘Bad’ Bobby will make your belly ache from a non stop assault on the senses with his own inimitable brand of riotous humour. Bobby has been a Comedian for over twenty years and is noted for his quick fire wit and ability to adapt to all types of audiences.

In addition to Bobby, we will have the usual including a fabulous buffet, all the trophies from the 2010 Season and the famous “Landlords’ Raffle”. (We kindly ask for each venue to donate a prize for the raffle to help raise further funds for the work of the DPA.)

Ian Harle takes Harold Longworth Singles

Following an unscheduled re-location of the Singles Knockout Finals to the Entwistle, Ian Harle of Punch won the Harold Longworth Memorial Singles Trophy by conquering Pete Jennings of Borough 4-2 in a final that was well supported by those spectators who had made the journey.

Ian will now join the Borough Team in the opportunity to represent Darwen in the Champion of Champions National Competition should they require.

Pete reached the final by beating Cameron Bell 3-2 in the Semis in a  match that could have gone either way. Ian unfortunately received a bye into the final due to Mark Ashton not being available to play.

Once again can I thank Craig at the Entwistle for offering his pub at short notice, as a consequence the Tri-Cast final has been postponed until an as yet unspecified date as the relocation meant there was no time to play both finals and the Entwistle was also not a neutral venue.
