2012 Monday Pool League – Registration & AGM

We are inviting premises to enter a team (or teams) in the forthcoming season of the Darwen Pool League. All games are played on Monday nights commencing at 8pm. Registration is open to all public houses and clubs in the BB3 area which covers Darwen andLower Darwen.

Last season we had two very successful leagues with a total of 19 teams playing home and away, our points system keeps the league close.  This keeps the interest in the league to a maximum and also allows for the development of new players

We also had a team knockout competition, with Mens singles, Ladies Singles and doubles knockout competitions being held during the closed season. A  tri-cast competition alternates with doubles competition to be played every 2 seasons.

Winning the DPA “A League”, or the singles knockout competitions, entitles the winners to an entry in the ‘Champion of Champions’ trophy, a national competition to find the best local league team and player. A prize find of around £15,000 is available for this.

Last year was our third playing the World Rules, as defined by the English Pool Association, and this change allowed us to affiliate to the Lancashire County Pool Association. 2010 saw the return of Darwen to the Men’s Interleague competition, in 2011 we are also entered the Ladies Interleague competition.

2010 also saw players from Darwen making a return to theLancashiremen’s and Under 18’s county teams, and this continued in 2011 on both fronts. We also had trialists for the Lancashire Ladies and are hoping to continue the progress with trials for the Over 50’s

The fee per team for the new season is £45.00.

Registration for next season, along with the 2011 AGM,  to be held at Punch Hotel, Chapels on Mon 12th December 2011. Registration will commence at 8pm. The season will commence following the conclusion of the Knockout Tournaments around February 2012. Click here for 2012 League Registration sheets.
