Interleague Update
It’s been an eventful last few weeks in the Lancashire Mens Interleague, Darwen entertained local rivals at the end of March and after a poor start and being 1-6 down came back to draw 9-9 at the end.
Preston failed to fulfil their fixture with Leyland on 25.03.12 & have since dropped out due to lack of interest. Burnley have not sent in their match card v Chorley from 01.04.2012, fines + point deductions have been applied.
With Preston dropping out those who have already played them the appearance stats applies, for those who haven’t the overall games have been taken off & is reflected in the app stats spreadsheet.
The Ladies team continue to develop well but coming up against the super team of Lancashire Hotpots in Preston they hit a brick wall, with the Hotpots taking the game 13-1. Darwen Ladies Champion Kelly Whitworth being the only winner.
Meanwhile Kelly, along with fellow Darwen and Alex B player Cath Slater, started their campaign in the Ladies International Pool Tour. Kelly made the last 32 in Event 1 of the tour and both are hoping to improve in Event 2 at Club 147, Leicester on Sun 6th / Mon 7th May. Current provisional rankings show Kelly ranked 39, with Cath ranked number 40.
Mens Interleague continue strongly.
Darwen Mens Interleague team have continued their good start to the season with another good win against Burnley on 12th Feb.
Double wins for Paul Otley, Kane Suddick and Keith Holden and also wins for Jamie Ridsdale, Jimmy Cummins, Bernard Goulding, Pete Jennings and Ian Harle lead to an 11-7 win.
The following week, a reduced team, due to a number of players being at Lancashire trials, travlled to Wigan A where they narrowly lost 10-8 against one of the top sides in the county.
Wins for Paul Otley, Graham Melia and Ian Harle in the first half meant we where trailing 6-3 at half way, but wins for Tez Fielding, Paul Otley, Ian Harle, Pete Jennings and Gaz Costello meant 5-4 in the second half and a respectable result.
2012 Mens Interleague Fixtures announced.
The 2012 Mens interleague Fixtures have been formally announced by the Lancashire County Pool Association.
At the Lancashire AGM, it was decided that the league would be one division and as a result all teams ill play each other once, either home or away.
Our first game is 29th January away to Bury with the first home game, based at Darwen Catholic Club, being Burnley on 12th February.
Returning to the competition are our local rivals Blackburn who we are scheduled to play at home on 18th March.

Mens Interleague – Preston v Darwen
Lancashire Interleague 2011
26/6/2011 – Preston v Darwen
Well following the poor run of results, the team was looking forward to returning home to the Catholic Club. Unfortunately this did not happen as the match had to be switched to Preston a week after the scheduled game.
Well a confident start this time with Bernard, Kieth, Gaz and captain Paul al taking wins in the first half which was finely balanced between the teams on an extremely hot and uncomfortable day. Given that Jamie, Jimmy, and Leon all got to the black first – things looked positive for the second half.
The second half continued in the tactical battle, with further wins for Bernard and Keith and Jamie making up for his disappointment in the first half. This brought the game to 7-6 in favour of Darwen but that was where lady luck became the extra player for Preston and allowed them to sneak wins in the last 5 games to take it to 11-7.
So overall a positive result but a losing won again. Next games Lancaster Squires.

A message for all the Mens InterLeague players – The match away to Burnley scheduled for Sunday 22nd May have now been re-arranged until Sunday 5th June.

Mens Interleague fixtures announced.
The Mens Interleague team fixtures have now been announced and, as per usual, the season opend with the Interleague Knockout Cup at Rileys Preston on 27th February.
Due to an increase in the number of teams this year, Darwen – along with last seasons other newcomers Chorley – have been place in Division 2 of the League competition. Other teams to join in Division2 are Burnley, Lancaster Squires, Preston City League and, newly transfered from Greater Manchester, Bury.
Darwens opening fixture is away to Chorley on 20th March, with the closing game away to Lancaster Squires on 4th December. The matches this year will be played on a Home and Away basis.
Mens Interleague Team partner with P&S
Darwen Pool Association is pleased to announce that the 2011 Darwen Mens Interleague team will be sponsored by P & S Dry Lining. We thank the teams captain, Paul Otley, for working hard to secure the sponsorship and also the management team for their valuable funding.
The first scheduled match day is the InterLeague Knockout Cup, which is on Sunday 27th February 10am at Rileys Preston. Transport is being arranged from 9am at the Punch Chapels.
